Sounder & Jet

Sounder and Jet, our two bonders, have had a bit of a falling out.  The bonding process can be quite stressful for bunnies and we do try to keep them as stress free as possible.  Both bunnies had spent almost two hours chasing, jumping, charging and generally showing off on our patio area and this was all signs of good progress.  Jet and Sounder's owners had spent time with them before they came to us, so the initial stages of bonding had been done.  On the second day we let them out again and all seemed fine, again we had playing and skipping around and even some washing by Jet (Sounder being the man, was certainly not getting involved in any grooming or washing!).  Unfortunately, after two very good days, something set them off and they had a fight and we had to separate them.  Again, this can happen, and often does with any bonding process, although once this has happened you have to leave the bunnies for a few days and not push them, or there is always the risk that they will have a complete falling out.  They appear to be quite settled again and we shall continue working with them, either tomorrow or Monday.  Some bunnies can bond in a couple of days or weeks, others take a couple of months.  We are still working with two of our own rabbits, Dusty and Simba who at six weeks on are still both determined to be the boss.  Obviously with our own rabbits there is no urgency and at some point we are hoping cupid's arrows will hit one of them, or both!
